Every piece in the Déjà Nu collection begins with something already beautiful. The bucket hats are where you can see exactly what that means.

Each hat band is cut from a vintage Italian men’s cotton shirt — the same shirt that lined the Chelsea denim jacket it travels with. The shirt arrives in our Colorado studio, passes through our artisans’ hands, and gives its first life to a jacket interior: cut, pieced, and stitched by hand into the lining and cuffs of vintage American denim. What remains — too fine to discard, too small for another jacket — becomes the band on a bucket hat. The same cloth, its second chapter.

When enough fabric survives, a third piece follows: a Bebe Déjà jacket, miniature and perfectly matched, lined in the same Italian cotton as her mother’s.

The hats are available in cotton and nylon, in a range of seasonal colors. Each band is one of one — when the shirt is gone, that particular combination is gone too. Handcrafted in Colorado by the same artisans who make every Déjà Nu piece. Starting at $150.
