The Atelier
Garment Artisans
Déjà Nu begins with beautiful materials — but it comes to life through the hands of the people who make it. Every vest, jacket, and painted bag is the work of real artists and artisans, most of them rooted in the mountain communities of Colorado. We don’t work with factories. We work with people. And every person who works with us shares the same creative ethos: that what already exists is often more interesting than what’s new, and that the right hands can find the story in almost any material.
The Makers
the hands behind every piece
JANETTE ADRIAN
Tumbleseed Studio · Eagle, Colorado
Killeen met Janette Adrian in the winter of 2025, in a basic sewing course at Colorado Mountain College. By the end of that class, she had told Janette about the concept for Déjà Nu. Janette has been working with the brand ever since.
Her craftsmanship is second to none. More than that, she brings a relentless creative intelligence to every piece — arriving with ideas, not just technique. When Janette looks at a length of vintage silk or a reclaimed scarf, she sees possibility where most people see fabric. She has spent a couple of decades honing her design and craftsmanship skills, a depth that pairs naturally with Killeen’s expertise in connecting production to the people behind it.
“I enjoy using vintage and making one-of-a-kind pieces. Reimagining and pivoting based on what is available is a strong suit of mine. It takes time to converse with the materials — and it’s fun to see what pops out in the scarves and transform these vests and jackets. I love working with fine materials and artistry.”

JULIANNA REESE
Colorado Mountain College · Carbondale, Colorado
Julianna Reese came to Déjà Nu through the same Colorado Mountain College community that brought Janette — and like Janette, she is also an instructor there. Based in Carbondale, she brings a specialist’s touch to silk: the material that demands the most patience, the most respect, and the most skill to get exactly right. She is the reason a Déjà Nu lining moves the way it does.
Her fingerprints are also on Bebe Déjà. The playful piping accents that give the mommy-and-me line its personality — finished, considered, unmistakably designed — are entirely her invention. It’s the kind of detail that takes a trained eye to conceive and skilled hands to execute.
